Lancement de la campagne des Emirats Arabes Unis en faveur de la tenue d'une Exposition universelle à Dubaï en 2020

Les Emirats arabes unis ont lancé aujourd'hui la campagne du pays pour accueillir l'Exposition universelle de 2020 à Dubaï. Suite à une candidature officielle présentée sous le patronage de Son Altesse Cheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-président des EAU et le Premier ministre et gouverneur de Dubaï, la campagne mondiale permettra de souligner pourquoi Dubaï est le candidat idéal pour accueillir cet événement international qui a lieu une fois tous les cinq ans.

La campagne a débuté en parallèle avec la première visite officielle aux Emirats Arabes Unis, depuis que le pays a présenté sa soumission en Novembre, de M. Vicente Gonzalez Loscertales, Secrétaire général du Bureau International des Expositions (BIE), l'organisation intergouvernementale en charge de superviser le calendrier, d'appel d'offres, la sélection et l'organisation des Expos mondiales et internationales. Au cours de sa visite dans le pays, le Secrétaire général du BIE s'est réunit avec les plus hauts décideurs à Abu Dhabi et à Dubaï.

Sous le thème, "CConnecting Minds, Creating the Future", l'Expo 2020 à Dubaï servira de plaque tournante mondiale pour les idées et un tremplin pour la créativité, selon Son Altesse Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, président de l'Aviation civile de Dubaï Autorité, Président du Groupe Emirates, et président du Comité supérieur pour l'hébergement de l'Expo 2020 mondiale.

S'adressant aux médias régionaux et internationaux lors d'une conférence aujourd'hui à Dubaï, Son Altesse Sheikh Ahmed a dit: «Depuis 1851, les Expositions Universelles ont fourni d'importantes possibilités d'engager la communauté internationale dans un projet partagé. C'est aussi notre objectif, ici, à Dubaï, où nous nous unissons les peuples et les cultures du monde entier chaque jour. "

"Les Expos sont des événements uniques de la coopération internationale dédiée à la communication de l'innovation et la promotion du dialogue mondial", a déclaré M. Loscertales. «Nous sommes impatients d'en apprendre davantage sur le projet des EAU, sa vision et sa campagne de candidature pour accueillir l'Expo 2020 à Dubaï."

Son Excellence Reem Al Hashimy, ministre d'État des EAU et directeur général du Comité supérieur pour accueillie l'Expo 2020, a déclaré que «En reliant les personnes, qui se trouve au cœur de notre vision en tant que nation cosmopolite, nous pouvons favoriser une plus grande coopération et compréhension entre les peuples et les cultures. En connectant les esprits, nous célébrons nos aspirations communes et de travailler à créer un avenir meilleur. Telle est notre vision pour l'Expo 2020 du Monde à Dubaï. "

Les Émirats arabes unis ont proposés d'accueillir l'Expo pendant six mois dans la "Ville Exposition", un site de 400 hectares sera construit sur le bord sud-ouest de Dubaï, à proximité du Dubai World Central, de l'Al Maktoum International Airport, qui sera l'hôte du Dubaï 2013 Airshow.

En Novembre de l'année dernière, les Émirats arabes unis ont présenté officiellement leur candidature au BIE à Paris, en France, pour accueillir l'Expo mondiale à Dubaï entre le 4 janvier et le 30 juin 2020. L'offre est dirigée par le Haut Comité pour la tenue d'Expo 2020.

Le gagnant parmi les cinq villes candidates, qui comprennent les Ayutthaya (Thaïlande); Ekaterinbourg (Russie); Izmir (Turquie), et Sao Paulo (Brésil) - sera annoncé par le BIE à la suite d'un vote par ses 160 pays membres en Novembre 2013.

UAE launches campaign to host 2020 World Expo in Dubai 

The United Arab Emirates launched today the country’s campaign to host the 2020 World Expo in Dubai. Following an official bid submitted under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, the global campaign will underscore why Dubai is the ideal candidate to host this international event that takes place once every five years.

The campaign kicked off in parallel with the first official visit to the UAE, since the country submitted its bid in November, by Mr. Vicente Gonzalez Loscertales, Secretary General of the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE), the intergovernmental organisation in charge of overseeing the calendar, bidding, selection, and organisation of World and International Expos. During his visit to the country, the BIE Secretary General is meeting a range of high-level decision-makers in Abu Dhabi and Dubai.

Under the theme, “Connecting Minds, Creating the Future,” the 2020 World Expo in Dubai will serve as a global hub for ideas and a springboard for creativity, according to His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority, Chairman of the Emirates Group, and Chairman of the Higher Committee for Hosting the 2020 World Expo.

Addressing regional and international media at a briefing today in Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Ahmed said, “Since 1851, World Expos have provided significant opportunities to engage the world community in a shared project. This is also our goal, here in Dubai, where we unite peoples and cultures from across the globe every day.”

“Expos are unique events of international cooperation dedicated to the communication of innovation and the promotion of global dialogue,” said Mr. Loscertales. “We look forward to learning more about the UAE project, its vision and its bid campaign for hosting World Expo 2020 in Dubai.”

Her Excellency Reem Al Hashimy, UAE Minister of State and Managing Director of the Higher Committee for Hosting the 2020 World Expo, said that “By connecting people, which lies at the heart of our vision as a cosmopolitan nation, we can foster greater cooperation and understanding between peoples and cultures. By connecting minds, we celebrate our common aspirations and work to create a brighter future. That is our vision for the 2020 World Expo in Dubai.”

The UAE has proposed hosting the six-month Expo at “Exhibition City,” a 400-hectare site to be constructed on the southwestern edge of Dubai, adjacent to Dubai World Central, home to Al Maktoum International Airport, which will host the 2013 Dubai Airshow.

In November of last year, the UAE officially presented its bid to the BIE in Paris, France, to host the World Expo in Dubai between January 4-June 30, 2020. The bid is being led by the Higher Committee for Hosting the 2020 World Expo.

The winner among the five candidate cities – which include Ayutthaya (Thailand); Ekaterinburg (Russia); Izmir (Turkey); and Sao Paulo (Brazil) – will be announced by the BIE following a vote by its 160 member nations in November 2013.
